Since the rise of democratic capitalist system there seems to be a distinct drop in philosophy to almost a purely Ivory Tower mentality. Do you think this is true. If so-why?
If not-then what can account for this downfall in public reflection, questioning and philosophy in general.

I'd say it's more a cultural problem. An eversion to pain and negative stimulus drives people into zombie like states in which they ponder nothing.

Much of the modern philosophy peddled these days is a real turn-off, and if taken seriously, leads to bad consequences.

Capitalism w/o a proper philosophical undercarriage (Objectivism) will merely be fleeting & mix-economy. I think it's all important to take it all seriously, but until better philosophies are widely available, I see no reason for the masses to take interest.

Democratic capitalism is a fine financial system which employed promptly improves living standards, thus enabling promotion of philosophy!
