The idea originated with the Yahoo! Taiwan team. Now even people like Google and Microsoft have started following the suit.

I don't know but it's great! No one has claimed the credit so I suspect it was a bunch of people on the Yahoo team.

These guys/gals probably got tired of all our "comments and gripes" about e-mail use in general, so they decided, "hey, why don't we let all these computer heads get any and all info from each other and they'll leave us alone...BRILLIANT!"
