there is an official world cup tournament for women. however it does not get much coverage by the media and championship winning only merits a small article in the sports page. being first and foremost a female and a soccer player, i feel aggrieved by this lack of interest and attention. but i'm hopeful that this situation changes with time and that people will one day (men in particular) sit up and realize that hey, women can play football too!

I don't think there is a large demand for women's teams however I think with the concept of the global village become more real I think in time they will have to have a Women's World Cup.
