Liter gas(petrol) costs more than a dollar, whereas in US, a gallon...?

(nearly 3.5 litres) costs about a dollar. The Indian Govt says it is absorbing 84% of cost. Who is being fleeced-?

The average price in the U.S is $3.50 per gallon. About the same as what you are paying in India.
