Why should you preserve any part of your heritage? So that people can go back and critize or deny it later. Actually, its so that we can learn from mistakes, good or bad. In ancient Japan people made the interior of their homes out of paper walls because of the earthquakes from the volcanoes. But they would catch fire easily. Now they use more western styles, but they are more dangerous because of the volcanoes. A lot of country people use a mixture of the two, and there aren't anywhere near the casualties in those buildings. They used their heritage-the paper walls- to better their modern day lives.
