It was on the news today. President Bush said that he will not pull the troops out of Iraq, even if the American people want it done. This war will still be going on when he leaves office. And when we (U.S.) finally leave, we will have won nothing, and they will still be killing one another. (It saddens me to say these things, but it is my belief, not a condemnation of policy).
I hope I'm wrong and that Iraq gains democracy and self control of their Country. I would love to say I was mistaken in my judgement of events.

War is a terrible ugly thing. But people living without freedom to live their lives is worse. The United States has decided to try and defeat those who would deny people their right to be free. Terrorists by what ever name, Talaban etc are that enemy. Deciding to have the war in Iraq was a great idea because the other countries will see Iraq become a democracy. A country of free people, free to work, go to school etc. And I believe that wanting to be a free person is embedded in everyones soul. Also the young would be "suicide bombers" who are brain washed at a young age into such a stupid thing just might think twice after seeing what's going on. Habeeb might wake up one morning and say humm I have a choice to make I can either strap some bombs on my "bum" and go blow myself up and maybe get a few infidels....or I could go to the Baghdad starbucks and scope out that new hottie they hired yesterday after I go apply for a job at the new walmart downtown..given that choice I know what I would do lol

The US won the war, however its lost Iraq; the new democracy there
elected the Islamists that Ayatollah Komeini wanted for rulers of Iraq;
If you recall the war Iran-Iraq was aimed at keeping fundamental islam from power and it was the reason the US supported Saddam Hussein; it was the reason why the US [Reagan-Bush- Rumsfeld] gave Saddam Hussein chemical weapons [ and "intelligence" that goes with these weapons] to tip the balance of the war.
US lost power to the imans and mullahs , Ayatollah Komeini must be laughing in its tomb. US best friend in Iraq, Saddam Hussein
must be calling Bush " stupid" for this "screw up"..
Now the US plan is to start a civil war in Iraq, and maintain the country in a state of chaos so nobody touch the oil..
The Iraqis people are going to suffer; this was no liberation..
[Djack- cut the napoloeonic re-theoric bull, you screwed up, all of these democracies will end up being anti-US] , You are already being voted out!
[crusintru- this is stupid statement, - what difference does taliban islamic law of agfghanistan have with with pakistan, saudi arabia, koweit, quatar egypt etc..? none whatsover
men are separated from women, women are fully dressed,, BIG DEAL.. They all do their prayer under the Coran, they don't or won't have cases of skin cancer by being exposed to the sun becaue their skin is not exposed, thats all.

What do we accomplish? We'll have established a democracy in the mid-east with a progressive population. Down the road, that will serve as an example to surrounding nations (Iran/Saudi Arabia), which will cause the peoples there to force their governments to bring on liberal reforms. Those liberal reforms are the opposite of the hardline extremism that supports terrorism. Killing Bin Laden does nothing to prevent future Islamic Terrorist attacks on the free world. Liberalizing the Islamic world does everything. The ONLY way to do that is to plant the seeds here & now in Iraq. Doing that requires us to stand by our new friends there until they can survive on their own & flourish in that liberalized democracy we've handed them. Things are going fairly well in progressing toward those goals, despite what you see on TV.

no one can say for sure when the war will end. we will always have presence of american military there no matter what. we are waiting for the iraqi goverment to be able to stand on their own. we are there to help them. also, this isn't about winning, it's not like we get a prize for what we are doing. we are trying to help the iraqi's set up a functioning democratic government.
