He allowed us to enjoy free will to proceed towards the right path. We perform with our free will while remaining under His soveregnity and we are accountable for our deeds.
Just like a student taking a test under vigilance of his teacher. It's up to the student to perform well or not. Also, the teacher can snatch away the paper from him to answer on his behalf but he doesn't. Because it's the test of student's performance. The teacher wants his student to be rewarded after passing the test - with his own free will. The teacher wants the student to grow and be on his own to discover and enjoy his self more.

This question goes to the Meaning of Life.
God created us for a very specific reason, which very few people realize. First off, we're incarnating here for a long time.
Christians will balk at this but let's cut to the chase. Jesus said that John was the reincarnated Elijah and Christians then go, "Ooh, ahh, he's the messiah!", which is true, but they gloss over that part where JOHN IS THE REINCARNATED ELIJAH!
I know, someone is going to point to John's denial of being Elijah to refute the assertion but the reason that John denied being Elijah is that Elijah had FOUR souls - two sets of angelic twins, Lailah and Sandalphon, Metatron and John. Check Elijah lore and see how it claims that after ascending he became several different beings, including Sandalphon and Metatron. Also note that Jesus was seen meeting with the spirit of Elijah while John was alive. Elijah was a team soul of four.
Anyway, back to my point, the Meaning of Life and karma. So assuming that reincarnation is the spiritual evolution process for all, no matter the specific religion, karma comes into play when one violates another.
Say that you worked for the king in the Middle Ages blinding people for him. You just did your job, right? The laws of karma indicate that you didn't value another person's vision and so, at some point, you are going to have to balance that karma. You will agree to incarnate into a life where you will lose your vision in a dramatic way and then your soul will know how precious the gift is and you would never again consider blinding another person.
The Meaning of Life is the process of viewing the universe the SAME way that God does - ALWAYS with Love (Christ energy). When one has completed the process then one is ready for the REAL purpose that God had in mind from the instant that He created "here" and that is....not for me to tell you right now.
Oh, and those who point to Hebrews 9:27 as declaring that men have ONLY one lifetime are misunderstanding the verse. Those Pinocchios who wish to become real boys (like God) only get to check the "wants to be a man" box once, which includes death (as many times as needed) and Pinocchio cannot get off of the carousel ride of reincarnation UNTIL he has either passed ALL of God's quizzes (the answer is always - Love) OR the seventh day ends and the eighth day, Judgment Day, begins.
