easy.

if you're using windows sp1; go to control panel; then click on networking; then right click on your internet connection, the click properties; then click advanced, and check on the firewall.

if you're using windows sp2; go to control panel and windows firewall is there.

if you're using an anitvirus like trend micro or norton, chances are there is a firewall that goes with the application.

i don't use a firewall. my issue with firewalls is that downlaod slows down and connecting to websites is not that fast.

so to be safe it is recommendable to use 4 to 6 antispyware apps and 1 good antivirus app.

Do you have windows XP? If so, updating to service pack 2 will give you a firewall. Go to windows update site below. It will prompt you to download all of the updates you need for your computer. If you already have XP SP2 you probably already have firewall running. You can go to Start, Settings, Control Panel to verify. There should be an icon for windows firewall and windows security center. You can double click on those icons to verify your firewall status as well as automatic update and virus protection status.

If you're running a different version of windows you will need to install a third party software. I use the free version of zone alarm from http://www.zonelabs.com.

Your last option, if you use another operating system such as a mac, is to go to www.download.com and search for a firewall for your system. I'm not familiar with mac and other products so I can't help you there very much.
