Why is home economics related to chemistry?

Chemical reactions take place in all of the food you cook. Without chemistry, we would be without many daily staples such as toothpaste, deodorant, soap, hair care products, etc.. Chemistry plays an important role in the creation of almost everything we use. Cooking utensils are manufactured using the principles of chemistry as are almost all of the products we buy.
