Bush pleaded with the UN to handle Iraq. He didn't want to go to war. You forget that it was the UN that threatened war (17 times, 17 resolutions) and didn't back it up. Bush had no choice but to pull out of the UN and the US to go in to Iraq (w/ British and Australian forces). No President wants war, they are diplomats representing the US people at the table of diplomats who represent other countries.
We're not perfect, how can expect them to be, we're all human.
Put yourself in that position for one minute, think about all the tough, difficult, sleepless night decisions you have to make. You have to make these tough decisions KNOWING, some portion of the US people will disagree with.
Going to war is the most difficult decision a President has to make. Don't think for a second it's something they want to do. Unfortunately, these issues require action. Doing nothing is NOT an option. The UN threatening war and backing down is WRONG. Who are the UN troops, well, a lot are Americans.
In order to have PEACE, you must prepare for WAR. We know Peace because of War & vice versa.
It was a Democrat who gave the order to drop two Nucs on Japan, an event that continues to live with every American. It sucked, but you can't deny, it ended the war 2 days later. It was a decision that was made, thousands died, but 2 days later, A Peace treaty was signed, no more deaths. Yes, Americans did it, we can't ever change that fact, but we never, ever want to see it happen again. Please don't lose the point, don't forget the good that also resulted from it. It maybe small, but it's still important, yet rarely mentioned.
The people we elect need to be given "some" trust. Regardless of who you voted for, the person who wins the position, has the best interest of AMERICANS in mind. Foriegn countries don't have time to disect us into little groups, if they hear neg.Bush rants coming out of the US, they may assume we all feel that way. How does that help our Pres/Sec.of State negotiate on our behalf when foriegn diplomats keep hearing "we think he's a fool, an idiot, etc. It's not helping out.
There are American Citizens from EVERY Other Country in the World. We don't want to kill anyone, WE (those of us who have studied Foriegn and Domestic government and history) realize that the US has a pretty damn good system. It's not perfect, but it's a hell of a lot better than 99.9% of every system created before ours. I know this because people from EVERY other country Want & continue to immigrate every year.
Every WAR sucks, but sometimes it's the result. We don't want to steal oil or land. We want people to be able to live FREE. When will there be no 3rd world countries? We would like it sooner than later. That's it. We can offer our help, we'll give you "our" all, but you have to show US, you want it. Iraqi's did that. Talk to an American-Iraqi, they'll tell you how greatful they are for living here and for the US taking out Saddam and giving Iraqi's the ability to create the start of change. For 30 yrs, Saddam had Iraqis split by religion, but today Iraqi's new government is showing the religions are uniting as Iraqis. The first thing the US did was to separate church and state, good/bad, who knows, we need both, but both CAN exist together. If we can do it, others can too... If they want.
Consider this, the US went into Iraq, out of LOVE for those human beings living there. I hope you believe in love.

In 2001, Terrorists destroyed the World Trade Center in New York City and crashed an aircraft into the Pentagon. I believe this event so provoked Americans and resulted in their support of the War.

I don't know how to answer your wise question. Because I like Bush. I hate war, but support it. He is not after oil. He does like all of those nationalities. If he was who you think he is we would have also bomb all of Pakistan to get Osama. But their President doesn't want us to. We could have ended the whole war by keeping up the shock and awe, but we stopped.
America can win quick wars, but it would kill innocents ON PURPOSE and he doesn't want that. It cost us billions more of our tax dollars to do it the right way and have a safe Iraq where tourists and all their money can visit someday. I can't wait to see that beautiful country.

Most Americans don't "love war" we just are really really good at it.
As far as i know, Americans don't steal oil, we buy it.
If you believe that being totally peaceful will stave off killers, then you need to read a bit more history. Passive cultures always get run over by aggressive cultures

Unfortunately, they didn't vote him in the second time around because of support for the war, but out of fear that if they elected someone new, they wouldn't be able to deal with people like Osama Bin Laden. Funny thing is that Bush still hasn't found him.

it is magnificent what share have a approach that isn't enable them to truly verify out the information! Clinton and Bush look to have the two drawn those extremes. If Bush particularly wanted to thieve oil and kill all those human beings, he might desire to easily nuke all those components, wait for the radiation to subside and take all the oil he wanted. in terms of people finding out on presidents, individuals frequently get undesirable selections for any elected place of work. You %. candidate A who's undesirable or candidate B who's worse.

Well, the first time he cheated to win... The second, well... Hmm.
I'm not really sure what happened there, to be honest. I think people just figured Bush was gonna cheat anyway, so they might as well have the right bumper sticker? ...I don't know.
...One thing I can tell you, I don't like war.

That's a good question. I know that I didn't vote for Bush. He's a hypocrite and he's supposed to be a Christian. I'm more Christian than he is, and I don't belong to a religion.

Perhaps if the American voters elect someone who has fought in a war and seen enough of it to make him sick of it then they will have someone in charge who will try anything else first and only resort to military measures when all else has failed.
