A VERY thin layer of aluminum is pressed between two layers of coated plastic of different thickness and color, blue dye or green dye is often used in the plastic layers for use with different color lasers that are found in the Cd or DVD drives. They are mass produced, so a machine of some type is used in a super clean environment to make these discs.
