My wife's pet name is sweetie, okay? I call her that all the time. So why is it that when my sister visits, I slip and call her sweetie? She hates it, but I can't help it. It's automatic. Have you ever had that problem? Why does it happen? It's really freaking me out.

maybe because you are older than her and love her?

It's rather simple - you may be distracted at the times when you call your sister "sweetie". If you want to stop calling your sister that name, then you have to make a conscious effort not to do so. Try not to get distracted so much that you slip and call your sister "sweetie".

No need to freak out about it - you could always make an excuse about it - sorry! I was thinking of my lovely wife.
She often occupies my mind.

Good Luck!

sometimes men go for women who are like their sisters. they usually do this because they know the habits and the buttons not to push. so maybe your sister reminds you of your wife a lot. Try your best not to call her that but its a very innocent mistake. when your sister visits call her by her name and only her name and then you'll get into the habit that shes not "sweetie" check ya later ♥

My first thought was to assume you might be gay, but you mentioned you had a wife.

I think that using such nicknames such as "Sweetie" are just terms of endearment that people use for other people that they care for. My mother calls my Dad "Honey" and at times has called me "Honey" as well. They are both used in a different context.

Don't worry about it. Make it clear to yourself (and to you sister and wife) that it's just word.

It's not like you care calling them both "Hot Mama".

That calls for some worrying.

You just say sweetie it is drilled into your head. My husband calls me all sorts of different pet names, he stops to think about what he's going to call me. Sweetie to you is just routine. Mix it up a little.
