1.without any partiality players has to be selected.
2. history is history and even any player can be removed if his form is not in place.
3.dedication and proffesionalism towards cricket.
4.good domestic structured cricket series to find natural players.
5. in the BCCI administration everyone must have cricket national and international playing experiance.
6.proper selection of players , good use of past experiance cricketers and more involvement to groom players.

Consistancy...
Gilchrist bats more consistantly than Dhoni,
Mcgrath bowls more consistantly than Pathan,
Warne takes wickets more consistantly than Kumble,
Pnting was more consistnat batsman than any other captain (Other than Dravid)
And so on and so forth...ninty percent of Australian players are more consistant than thier Indian counerparts.
