Yes, I think Civilization will continue for quite some time. The natural progression of humans allows us to adapt in order to exist on this planet. Even if Earth were to be hit by an asteroid, humans would still survive.

Humans have survived incredible disasters only to become stronger while the weak die off. The old saying of "Survival of the Fittest" is scientifically proven.

Look through history at earthquakes, tsunamis, volcano's, man-made disasters, pandemics such as Aids, and so on and so on, humans have still survived.

Good question.

Do you mean Western civilization? Western Civilization had roots in the Middle East, passed weastward to Europe and the Americas, and even the East is adopting portions of it. So, it is not unlikely that it will gradually make its way back to the middle East, where the cycle will begin again, no doubt with alterations as it goes.

By much longer, do you mean 50, 100, 1000 years? In 1000 years, civilization, as it will be, should be much different. As the world gets smaller and the ability to destroy ourselves gets that much better, civilization will constantly adapt to that. Will we wipe ourselves out (or some other natural disaster)? I hope not, but in 1000 years, who knows?

the world is so varied, thankfully, that we shall see some sort of life prevail most problems. the fact that memes are varied and diverse will keep the human race healthy and any selection pressures will most likely work on those that are the largest and least diverse such as the western societies.
