It certainly wasn't their own governement. They all got outta there fast as they could and then pointed fingers at the Federal Government when they couldn't get help in there due to the people of New Orleans shooting everything that moved.

Ask France to help...then ask them to pay the bill for welfare for that area.

I know several Christian organizations went. Operation Blessing International (Christian Broadcasting Network) is still there. In the beginning they took in food, water, and ice. They are now still helping people rebuild, providing food, and just opened a medical clinic. They work with Salvation Army who is covering prescriptions for them.

Talk to your local Fire and Rescue folks. I know my brother in law went and arrived about a day and a half after it blew through. He is now sick from the ordeal, has some lung problems which they think came from being there.

Yes, your local red Cross and Church. FEMA will not be of much assistance. Look for anything D.A.R.T. (Disaster Aid response Team).
