I just began seeing a chiropractor and I'm 31 weeks pregnant. A friend recommended him to me (including a 1 hour massage, covered by insurance). Initially, I went for the massage, but now I wonder if the adjustments are benefitting me as well.

My doctor told me it's OK to go to a chiropractor in the first trimester only.
I would not go for the adjustments at 31 weeks.
Soon you'll give birth, and you can go for the adjustements then. (Something to look forward to.)

Generally, it is safe to see a chiropractor throughout prenancy. The main factor is if the chiropractor is comfortable treating you. Some have experience with pregnant clients and some do not. On a personal note, with my first pregnancy, I saw the chiropractor once a week for the entire pregnancy. I had a wonderful labor and delivery and remained flexible throughout. I also had plenty of massage and the two together where extremely valuable. My husband is a massage therapist and works on pregnant clients a lot that are also receiving chiropractic care and everyone of them has seem many benefits!
So, I personally and professionally think that chiropractic care and massage during pregnancy is very beneficial.

Yes...but I checked out all the chiropractors in my area to see who handled pregnant patients and talked to friends and co-workers for recommendations. When I was about 6 months pregnant I suffered from sciatica and it was very painful. After seeing a chiropractor for a couple of weeks it was gone.

Chiropractors can be helpful with the many pains of carrying a child but do your research.

Yes, they are fine. I saw my chiropractor throughout my entire pregnancy. She adjusted me every week my last couple of months as the weight would throw my back off. It helped a lot and you will need it once the baby is here. After loosing all of the weight and hold a baby all the time shifts your back too. Won't hurt, she even did acupuncture during my labor.

you should never see a chiropractor with out a doctors referral, and specially coz ur pregnant, and i hope the chiropractor you're seeing has a cert in massage therpy for pregnant woman!! because he/she can do so much harm to your body when your pregnant your muscles and bones are so much more different the muscles softer getting ready for birth he does one thing wrong and you may have the most miserable labor and birth. I think before you go back you need to first ask your obgyn if you are actully ALLOWED to be seeing a chiropractor and 2nd find out if the chiropractor has a cert in chrio and massage therpy for pregnant woman.

I don't think that the adjustments would hurt you or the baby. Other I'm not sure on that. I just don't see what the problem would be.
