Yeah it is the Oscars. The Academy awards are most famous but they are also the most meaningless. The cannes Palme 'd' or, is considered more prestigious, as they actually reward originality and talent, rather than box office success and popularity, though even those are pretty biased. (anyone who thought fahrenheit 911 deserved praise is)

That would be Oscars also known as Academy Awards. For highly artistic films, I believe it is one held in Cannes and I forgot how they exactly call the said award..D'or something. :)
