Why are you so afraid? We usually make fun of what we fear, especially when we don't know anything about it ... that dark shadow of a Boogeyman in our own closet that scares us and makes us cry for our Mommies late at night.... until we Grow Up and learn about what we fear instead of hiding from it.
Are you worried that you are retarded yourself? Do you feel so mentally inadequate that you body build to balance it out?
Do you even know what being retarded really means?
My favorite response to this sort of thing was by a young man with MR. A jerk like the one who posted this question came up, and started to call him names. The young man drew himself up, looked the other one up and down, and replied, "Yes, I'm retarded. It takes me longer to learn, but at least I learn. If you don't learn, don't try, and hurt people, you're just stupid. I don't care if I'm retarded, but I never would want to be as stupid as you."

I have worked with children and young adults that have special needs. They are people who feel and understand. I have learned more from them than I ever taught them. There is nothing to make fun of, the are courageous, and have to work many times harder to do simple things and their only crime? They were born as they are but you could have an accident and find yourself in there shoes. I think for you Karma is a choice.

Well, people like to laugh, but researchers have found that only genuinely motivated laughter begets actual health benefits. I've found, through experience, that if I laugh at someone for the wrong reason, my day is bad the next day. I don't know why, but I could swear by this...

you are wrong for making fun of/laughing at anyone, regardless of disability...
No one likes to be laughed at (except comedians and the class clown--because that is what they do for a living) Hurt feelings lead to scars that never heal...Just because they have a disability does not mean they don't know that you are hurting them...
Perhaps you should take up a new hobby to relieve your stress....volunteering for your local Special Olympics might be a good place to start....

Yes, you are absolutely wrong. If you want to supress your stress you have million other good methods in this world. If you feel like making fun of such people, just try to imagine how your life could have been, had you been born that way

Everyone has a part of them that is imperfect. If you are laughing at others for their shortcomings, chances are, you are afraid of admitting your own.
