To both of these groups these people were messiahs, and both are seen as serving the same god. However... the big difference is the what they are, what they taught, how they taught it and the after effects.

What they are:

Muhammed was a man, nothing more, nothing less even prophets are human. Jesus however, was supposed to be the son of god, meaning that he was devine. The difference is, as a man Muhammed was not perfect, Jesus however would have been. OK there is difference number one... "Jesus IS a diety (the literal son of God) and Muhammed was just a prophet". Muslims believe that Jesus was a profit who didn't get the job done, so Muhammed was sent.

What they taught: (forgive me this is my least knowledgeable area but I am fairly confident about the info here)

This is where they are the most similar. The faiths inspired by Jesus and Muhammed both have a final heaven and hell. The moral systems of both religions are similar because they are both based on the Old testament of the Christian bible.

How they taught it:

Alright here is where I know I am going to piss people off, but this is the truth. All the people that say the Islamic faith is a peaceful one, are full of ****. That is unless you can see Muhammed marching an army east through india peaceful? This is one of the major things which led to the Islamic faith being so wide spread. Sorry, but those are the facts. Now to piss off christians... Jesus was a liberal. Yes, for the time period Jesus was a liberal. He did the socially unacceptable, he hung out with hookers and sailers. Jesus however took a peaceful approach to religion. Jesus' message sunk in at that time because he taught that heaven was for everyone, not just the royalty and the wealthy etc. However, his message wasn't recieved well because the Jews expected a military leader as their messiah. So in in review, Jesus taught by peace and appealing to the masses and Muhammed taught by conquering.

The after effects:

The main thing that can be said about Muhammed and Jesus is that what they taught inspired many wars. Here is an explanation of events...
The crusades were never really a religious war for the christians, here is why. The nations of Europe have always faught one another. They faught each other for honour, land, money whatever and they did it ALL THE TIME. The catholic church which at the time period basically ruled europe decided that they needed to focus the aggression of the nations onto somebody else. So they declared war on the Islamic peoples. They chose this target because there was no other reasonable target (what were they going to do invade china?) Anyway, they were able to justify this to soldiers and lords by telling them it was to reclaim the holy land etc etc etc. but that isn't the point. Christianity didn't start the crusades... the aggression of the Europeans mandated a large distant war. However, because although religion didn't start the war for the christians, it did feed the fires, the islamic peoples saw this as a religious war (as they should have) and faught back visciously. And since then, whenever threatened by a primarily christian nation, the Islamic dogma says that it is a religious war. So in review the Faith that Muhammed inspired started several wars, and the leaders of the christian church which Jesus inspired never stopped war and never carried out for religious purposes (the only debate on this would be the inquisition).

Christianity is considered a fullfillment of the prophecies.

Islam is considered the revealed truth. The question is where does it start from.

They both lay claim to the house of Abram, Abraham or Ibraham, however you want to spell it, but Christianity lays claim to the house of David as well. David was supposedly the chosen ruler under God. So, authoritatively there is a difference.

Each religion is rooted on two seperate promises of land and guidance from God. Both promises could be true. Tey don't necessarily interfer with one another. These are two great houses.

But, Islamic religion ties it self closer to the code of Hamarabi than does Christianity, which focuses more on a kingdom not of this worl than on tnhe kingdoms of this world.

I know this is of little help if you are looking to raise one over the other, but: rather see them as a choice of two paths, one that forgives first and loves second, and one that loves first and forgives second. You figure out which is which.

They both serve the only God, true.

But Muslims believe that Jesus was one of the prophets but not the son of God. As they believe that God is the only God, therefore he will not have children whatsoever. They do not believe in the Trinity and did not believe that Jesus died on the cross and rise afterwards.

For Christians and Catholics, both denied that Muhammed was the messenger of God. They believe that Jesus was the last.

Hey, there is a big difference between Jesus and Muhammad.
Jesus died for the sins of the world. They both served God, but Jesus served the true and living God. Because of the death, burial and Resurrection of Jesus Christ, I am a new person.

Jesus called himself the son of god in earth, he was also a martyr, that;s different from a prophet. He was not touched by sin (supposely) Mohammed was a prophet, he did not called himself the son of god who came to suffer for our sins.

Initially he was a merchant. He was not reached by god until he was around 40. Unlike jesus he died from an illness and he did not resucitate. And I'm not sure but I don't think that muhammed perform any miracles. HE was more a leader than a martyr.

I claim neither wisdom nor ignorance here ... my brief studies have led me to agree with you, but I'm not a follower of any specific religion.

The "religious" activity and the actions of the churchgoers in my community have turned me sour on the whole concept ... If people who claim to be followers of Christ practiced his teachings it would be a completely different world. I know too that Muhammed was also a teacher of peace and love, and I'm sure there are those who evoke his name while not practicing his teachings.

I believe there is only one God, and too many churches in the business of making a profit.

Christ is the son of God; the savior, the Messiah. Muhammad was just a prophet.
The beliefs are very similar, except the tiny difference. The is the difference between life and death

I'm still looking for the facts. I read your opinion, and your request to be entertained by people you can consider ignorant, but I'm looking all over for the facts you claim are included.
