Hundreds, possibly thousands. I once had a whole book of them, and that was before computers were set to create them.

They are different in that they have different odds of winning, and different degrees of difficulty. Some are sufficiently complicated that you lose more from making errors than from luck. Others are simple enough that no one but a child makes errors more than once in a great while, and so luck is pretty much the only factor in how often you win.

Yahoo! Games has some good computerized solitaire games.
