Eggs are acutally staples of a vegetarian diet. They are not Vegan however.
Eggs are acceptable to vegetarians because no living animal was killed for their enjoyment. Eggs are not acceptable to vegans because they either could have been a living animal or because of the conditions the chickens are kept (among other reasons).

The eggs one buys in chain-stores are unfertilised. They have no embryo and therefore carry no life. All it is is protein and good stuff that would have been consumed by the embryo should there have been one. Also because of this there is no meat or flesh involved.
Don't confuse a vegan with a vegetarian. Vegans do not touch any animal product at all and therefore would not eat an egg, fertilised or not.

I think it depends on how much of a Vegetarian they are. Many just won't eat meat but they will eat dairy products and eggs. If a person is a Vegan, then they don't eat anything related to meat, including eggs from what I understand. I'm not an expert but that's just what I've heard.

Vegans usually don't eat eggs or other animal products. But less-strict vegetarians can eat eggs and milk products. Eggs that you buy at the store are not fertilized so there was never a baby chick inside of them.

there is no animal in the egg though (the yolk is a protein that is correct, but the fetal chick if fertilized would grow next to the yolk sack as in the yolk would be its food source kinda like a human placenta. If its not fertilized there is no risk of consuming the actual bird). a lot of societies that don't eat meat still find dairy to be safe and enjoyable. In India, the cow is considered to be "mother" providing milk for her people...Eggs one of the oldest foods in the world, having been gathered and foraged for long before hunting was learned.

Do vegetarians drink milk? Yes, even though it came from an animal they still drink it because it isn't any kind of animal meat. Its the same thing with eggs. Eggs do not contain any kind of animal meat, so why wouldn't they eat it????? I think your getting confused with vegans, which eat NOTHING that even came from an animal.

Each culture has a different interpretation of what is meat and what is not. Obviously, some believe egg constitutes not as a meat.
