There are twoplaces that I would try... one is in Roswell.... but it's worth the short drive. IT's called The Swallow in the Hollow. Another place in Marieta, called Williamson Brothers BBQ... people come from all over the metro area for this stuff!! If you want something downtown.... try Piedmont Road that starts in Buckhead... drive until you pass the highway and you will see two "shacks" one is the rib shack and the other is the chicken shack... seems wierd, but you know that the old timey places have great food!

Well of all the answers I still have not seen anyone say Smokey Bones so I will! Smokey Bones is a nice laid back barbeque restauraunt. Smokey Bones is located by Stonecrest Mall in DeKalb right off of I-20 and there is another one located by Perimeter Mall.

Swallow in Roswell is real good. Lots of people talk about Williamsons but I think it is very dry. There is a place called Hudsons in a town called Douglasville. That had to be the best BBQ I have ever eaten. Moist meat. The sauce was superb. And the Brunswick stew is really good.

I agree that Williamson's BBQ is wonderful, but then so is Dreamland BBQ. Another good place is Hudson's in Douglasville, just outside of Atlanta.

I would say Fat Matt's (that is the place that the last person was referring to as the two "shacks") on Piedmont or Maddy's, which is on Lawrenceville Hwy(I think) - both good BBQ and reasonably priced

Probably some of the best are owned and run by African Americans. But if you had your way, there wouldn't be any. They would all be having fun and not working.
