No, I do not think it is right at all. Obviously you're talking about the Middle East. You know what America's interference in the Middle East reminds me of? What our forefathers did to the natives...we forced our religion and way of life down their throats and slaughtered all those who didn't comply. And you have to wonder whether or not they were the lucky ones, considering the survivors got disease and alcoholism back for their troubles (I know, that's a generalization, but anyone who knows their history can't deny it!). America- meaning the government- needs to realize once and for all that the rest of the world does not want to be American, or else they would have adopted American culture/system/religion in the first place. I believe that of all the atrocities the Bush administration have committed, treating Muslims like the indians of the 21st Century could very well be the worst.
And all these people who are saying America doesn't force religion are way off. What the hell do you think all these Christian aid workers are doing? They're not just handing out aid and comfort- they're handing out bibles as well. I'm a very lapsed Catholic myself, but it drives me nuts when I see people portraying Christianity as completely innocent and perfect. No religion is perfect, nor is any one superior to the others...they're all based on the same myths and legends, people.

What you mean "US," kimosabe? This country does not, by Constitutional law, have an "our" religious belief. I am an American, and I am not a Christian. While it is reasonably safe to assume it is Christianity to which you refer, the fact is, I'm not certain the majority of Americans are Christians. If so, it's probably a near thing, and won't be true in a few years.
As to "Democratic" government, we'd need a more precise definition there. Our government is a republic, not a democracy. In a democracy, it is one person, one vote, on everything. In a republic, we elect representatives, and they do the actual lawmaking. California has ballot propositions, and it truly democratic to that extent, but laws are also passed by representatives. Some states don't even have ballot propositions, and there are none on the federal ballot.
None of this is to suggest I would like to be more purely democratic, which is properly described as a tyranny of the majority. There are so many issues where the government (fed, state, county, city) is involved where it has no business being involved. A thoroughly democratic country would presumably take a vote on all decisions, and everyone would have to comply. Choice and variety would become a thing of the past. We'd vote on the thing, however trivial, and then enforce it against everyone.
So who is it you figure we are imposing all this on?

Do you think it is right for civilized modern nations to force human rights on others? Is it correct to express your opposition to governments that deny human rights to some of their citizens. Is it none of our business for example that women protesting for their rights in Iran are clubbed by the police?
Is it none of our business that women in islamic countries do not have the right to vote, go to school, chose their own husbands, drive a car, keep any property after divorce, or even show their faces in public?
So I would like to point out one presumption of your original question. How do you know that these people in other cultures are living the way they WANT to and not how they are being FORCED to!
Does an oppressive brutal backward culture like Islam have the right to spread like a disease across the world and plunge mankind back into the dark ages?
Are all cultures and religions morally equivalent?
Is a fascist Islamic culture that allows for the public beheading of young women that have premarital sex morally equal to a modern western democracy?
No they are not equal. There not even close to being equal.
There IS good and evil in the world. Not everything can be reduced to "two sides of the same coin" Sometimes all that Evil needs to flourish is for good men to do nothing!
America is a sleeping giant that is slow to anger.
America slumbered and the faschists were emboldened. December 7, 1941 was a day that will live in infamy. Pearl Harbour woke up this nation to the evil that was faschism. The world was glad to have someone like Winston Churchill to lead the battle. Apeasement didn't work then and it wont work now. We can not just stick our heads in the sand.
Sept 11,2001 was the day that America received it's wake up call. It was the day that we realized that a decade of appeasement had only encouraged our enemy. The bombing of the USS Cole, explosions at our embasies in Africa, the famous black hawk down attacks on our helicopters in Somalia, the 1993 attack on the world trade center; were all ignored. But after 9/11 we can not ignore the enemy. And the enemy is not terrorism...
The enemy is Islamic Fashism.
The enemy hates you, they want to kill you. They have no desire to kiss and make up! They don't hate you for what you've done, it's not about oil, it's not about defending their territory. It's all about one thing! If they can't convert you to islam then you are are a filthy infidel and they want to kill you. There is no resoning with these people because they are not reasonable! To them it is a jihad, a holy war. If you won't convert you are less than human to them. They want to dominate the world. Convert, Kill, and Conquer.
So try and be all politically correct and tell me that most Musilms want to live in peace. But do you see those so called moderate muslims turning in the monsters in their midst? Are they cleaning their own houses. Do any of the friendly Islamic countries like Saudi Arabia go into the Mosques and remove the fanatics that breed hatred for the west? No they just sit by and say it's not us. Like the assholes in Iraq that watch terrorists set their IED's to kill our young men. Then when our boys are blown up they say "it's not me...It must be the bogey man? That's our reward for getting rid of that evil dictator Saddam. A few years ago they were dancing in the streets.
If every generation of Americans has it's defining moment in History this generation has had their's. I am humbled by the bravery of our soldiers.
I don't really shive a git about Iraq... but we must Never Ever Ignore those Jihad mothers again.
The war will be long and take place in many different parts of the world. But we will win because at least now we know who the enemy is.

this is a tricky question. No person should be forced to anything (in a perfect world). I don't think that any country has the right to go into a different country and start attempting to change everything. However that being said, if a country/organisation/person wishes to do business with a country like america for examply they need to adapt to the american way of doing business. You cannot go into american and say that this is how we do it and thats how it is. It all depends on situation and circumstance.

we don't force religion but we do force way of life and government. it has shown through our superiority in wealth and power our way of life is "working" butweas people under this government and way of life are not any happier, which should be the point. the way the other cultures do not fit ours so we as the more powerful want to force it upon them what we are.

Well, i am not an american, so I wouldn't say "us", but, I would say it is not right for any country interfer in others country societies, as also I think it is not right for any government to deceive people with politics, religion or any ideology to keep the power in the hands of the powerful ones and away from the people.

I think your question is loaded and incorrect. I have seen no evidence of america forcing Christianity on any country. Sure we have our beliefs and we are not ashamed to share them. Just like Arabs have Islam and they are not ashamed to shout it out.
What I read into your question is that you are an athiest and you want religion silenced. If you have any evidence to show that america is forcing religion and Democrat ideals on other countries, i'd like to see it. Remember tho, the word force does not mean "influence". Sure we are trying to influence Democracy throughout the world, but we are not forcing it on anyone, in my opinion. Show me evidence please.

Of course it isn't right. And it wasn't right for the English/French/ Spanish to come to the Americas in the 15-18th Centuries and invade and slaughter/enclave the indigent population; and it wasn't right for Africans to be captured and sold as slaves; and it wasn't right for Japanese-Americans to be interred in concentration camps during WWII; and Gitmo Bay is a sin and a shame. But that's this country's foundation and legacy; doing whatever they want, whether it's right or not.

No should force any thing on any one (and this should go both ways) ,, what should be done is that people be educated about other religions, cultures etc. and the rest should be your onwn personal choice based on where you find youself and what you believe in.

Nobody is forcing our religious beliefs. And yes it is right to force our democracy on other countrys. For the same reason it is right to force our sociaty rules on criminals. Because they and us are better off.
So get use to it.
