Depending on the type its depth its intenstiy, you may be able to do what others are suggesting, fill your time with some sort of activity including covering it over with bible readin until the intensity subsides. There is some though that is too intense and too broad. to fill your life aith activity or cover up. Pain and sorrow like all emotinos come in waves. As catholics we are supposed to offer our suffering for Jesus, of course, but what else can we do. There is such greif that we can't just put on a happy face. I have suffered more than my share. It's not th ekind that others could help with, they did not understand, they would offer the same advice you were getting or a just plane "get over it". It seems liek somet times every time I get over one pain/sottor I'm hit within another. Many people n the US have not suffeed deep pain and sorrow grief, adn they literally don't know what you are talking about htey have no refernce point. They thing they do, but htey don't, we live lives in the US where we are generally saniized from thsi sort of thing. Its depended my faith though, I don't undestand this. In the troughs I would pray and focus on fogiveness or what I could do for somone else, in th epeaks just surf on it -- ride it out. And jsut when you thing you can't take anymore another wave hits an dyou realize you can, you don't want ot but you realize you can and you do. And you realize that God has never abondoned you and you realize that the only thing that has any value the only thing that is worth anything in this life at all, the ONLY thing that matters AT ALL in this life is Kindness. And you come to appreciate more than anything the lsightest smallest kindness, the smallest. And then wehn you are walknig down the street and some one asks you for a coin or something to eat, adn you are able and you give it to them you experince the same feeling as being the reciptiant of a small kindness, and you realize you may have made that person's whole day after liter4all hundreds of people have passed by not even seeing them as if they were invisible not seen because they are so insigficant. When ever I give an dits not very often i alwasy ask the persons name, and take even a moment to talk.

It's really difficult to deal with because you have all your hopes dashed. Even if you don't truly believe that your team are good enough to win the World Cup, you still hope for it and then to see it fail can cause real pain. I find drinking myself into oblivion helps for a short time, although it makes the morning after seem even worse. You would think that England fans would be used to it by now and our natural pessimism would prepare us for the worse, but its still something I've got no control over and I just hope we win this time to stop me having to suffer again.

For everyone but the winners of the World Cup, it is inevitable ....more of a case of "when" not "if". Keep this in mind, and when the day comes, drown your sorrows, nurse your hangover, then start counting down to the next World Cup, when you can punish yourself all over again.

It won't be painful because England are so dull, unless Rooney is playing. I would rather watch exciting teams that play entertaining football like Spain, Czech Republic, Holland.

Go and punch your best mates in the face. You can ease the emotional pain out on each other.

go through the 4 stages from shock to acceptance.
otherwise i either get drunk and cry it out or break something. but only if it's an important match.

Remember that football is there to be enjoyed and NOTHING else. Also remember that disappointment is all part of the fun.
