While ayleyha makes a valid point, I think it has to do with the Texas spirit. If you look at their history, which actually rather interesting, the state was originally sort of a province of Mexico. I don't remember the particulars, but they got funding from Mexico and there was all this diplomacy.... Anyway, Texas eventually had to fight for its independence largely on its own, and even fought against state-hood for a while wishing to remain independent.

So, while not all Texans believe everything is bigger in Texas, those who do are simply following the traditional spirit of Texas. Oh, and some stuff is actually bigger. For instance, there was electronics store I went to there... Bigger than some malls I've seen, and just one store.

What's with all the Texan bashing here? I see more people who've never been to Texas say crap about Texas.

Who cares what size it is? I was born and raised there and I don't care. I didn't wake up everyday thinking, "Wow! I live in a big state!"

If you want to have fun with friendly people, then visit Texas and maybe you'll change your mind about them. You'll find Texas is very DIVERSE not only geographically, but populated with many types of people (not just rednecks).

Oh, and many Texans do travel outside their state as one guy mentioned that they didn't. I've been all over America.

You people are just using hatred any way you can to put people down.

Yes it is! I've been all over this great U.S. of A. and I'll tell you what. Texas has it goin' on! Everybody in the world is comin' to Texas! Why? I don't know. But you won't hear me complainin'; the more people the merrier! Eventually, Texas, cities will surpass New York, Los Angeles, and Chicago in population. Then we'll really be 'The Biggest!' in everything! Stop Haten'!

The whole idea is based on the size of Texas and throughout history, amount of open land. Things were made big to stand out and be seen, and there was plenty of land to build big ranches. Then, of course, the sun, and cowboys wear bigger than average hats, oil businessmen drive bigger than average cars-and waalla, the 'Everythings Bigger in Texas" saying is coined.

I'm a Texan. Well, there are many things that are bigger. For example, we have the greatest land area than any other state in the continental US. Unfortunately it also means that we have bigger pollution and such as well. You're right. Not EVERYTHING is bigger in Texas, but some are.

Everything is bigger in Texas

Including failure. When it comes to failure, no one can boast a bigger or better success rate than the Lone Star State. Their most recent experiment with faith-based education, "abstinence only," has yielded these dazzling results, according to a research team at Texas A&M:

Despite taking courses emphasizing abstinence-only themes, teenagers in 29 high schools became increasingly sexually active, mirroring the overall state trends, according to the study conducted by researchers at Texas A&M University.

The only things that are bigger in Texas than anywhere else is egos and mosquitos. By the way you know what people in Tennessee call a large Texas condom? Too small for me!

Because Texans are smaller than everyone else. You know Gulliver's Travels? That was Texas, man.

That being said, have you seen the stars at night deep in the heart there?

I'm from Texas and this myth comes from the fact that most people believe that Texas is the biggest state in USA. It was for awhile. (Alaska is now) Texans say this just to attract tourists.
