A student that lived in a youth group home told me he wished I was his dad.

A student that just graduated wrote a nice messege on the school year book thanking me for encouraging him and for pushing him during Gym class.
He's now off to college on a football with a scholarship

When my ex-students who grew up, either ring me or write letter or even emailed me that they are thankful to me for what they learnt from me all the years as a kid!
It is a greater moment in life when a student or a parent appreciate a teacher, who has nurtured the talents in a kid - be it music or english language follow-ups.
A great satisfaction of a work well done that lights up the spirits to continue.....Teaching!

Second-sweetest thing: Gave me a hug, cried, and said "THANK YOU" at the end of the school year.

Most sweetest thing: Ran into me a couple years later, gave me a hug, cried, and said "Thank you."

When I was leaving the school after working there for many years, a group of students got one of those collage frames and put pictures of themselves in it so I could remember them (as if I wouldn't remember them!) Another put together a booklet of poetry for me.

Just this past week my first grade students gave me a t shirt with their handprints and names on it. I have no idea when or where they worked on it.

They told me they had missed me when I returned after 2 weeks abroad for a funeral. I was even slightly embarassed.

i gave my retireing math teacher a dinosaur and told her she made my fear and hatred for math "extinct"
