I'm sure that Monica sees the writing on the wall. She's yet to play a match this year and hasn't been part of a Grand Slam since 2003. It's unfortunate, because she dominated in a way that no one ever had before during a two-year stretch. When she made her comeback in 1995, she showed the world that she still had the groundstrokes that made her so tough to beat before, but after making it to the U.S. Open final that year, and winning the Australian Open the following year, she had a hard time beating the best on the tour.
In my mind, her name belongs on the list of greats such as Graf, Navratilova, Everet, King, etc, even though she wasn't allowed to play at her highest level for very long.
I hope that helps.

She's done. The women tennis players of today are so much more athletic. With Monica being as old as she is she won't be able to keep up with the top players in the world. She'll be able to hold her own with the lower ranked players. I think she should retire as a winner and not tarnish her great career for a couple more years of medicore tennis.
