That information will be with the drive... The formats are:
CD-R, CD-RW, DVD-R, DVD-RW, DVD+R, DVD+RW, DVD-RAM, DVD+R DL (Dual Layer)
Most of the newer DVD burners do all except DVD-RAM. If it's only a CD-RW, then only thoose two will be able to be used. You should be able to get the drive's model number from Windows, then you can go to the manufacturer's website and look it up.

Cd's are only -Rs or CD rws. DVDs come in + or - R's. In Dvds the + refers to a data disk as an example and the -R refers to video disk. Get the serial number off your system and go to manufacture of product on the net to get the information that you are requesting.

A DVD+-RW takes both types and also takes the +-RW version. The DVD+R is the "newer" technology, DVD-R is slightly older technology and will play in almost all home DVD players. DVD +-RW are re-writable with the same technology levels. The DVD burner will burn all the types of Cd's, CD-R is record once, and CD-RW is re-writable.

Well, first of all CD+R does not exist, so don't worry about it. If, by chance, you are referring to DVD+/-R, then you would need to check your PC manual (or DVD drive manual, if purchased separately), or look online for the model number & specifications. Another possibility might be to look at the front bezel of the drive, which SOMETIMES says whether it's +, -, or both. Yet another is to just buy both & see which works (possibly both would).

your pc takes both +ve and -ve also there is no things like it doesnt take one and it takes others it depends on the manufacturers and there will be advantages and disadvantages too in the +ve and -ve but generally we doesnt come across all those things . if u are really particular about that then study the manual which came along with ur cd rom or get the manual from the vendor who supplied the computer for u and study it
