Well, the 3/20 answer works if you asking what multiplied by 2&2/3 equals 2/5. If you want to know what 2/5 of 2&2/3 is its 16/15.

change 2 2/3 to 8/3 and multiply it by 2/5 you get 16/15.

plug it in to make sure it works 16/15 (2 of the 5ths) plus 16/15(2 more of the 5ths) plus 8/15 (1 more of the 5ths)

k all 5 fifths accounted for right? so you have 40/15 which is simplified to your whole 2 2/3 by making 40/15 into 2 10/15 then 2 2/3

again it depends what your asking, the answer is either 3/20 or 16/15

Let n be the unknown portion

n x 2 2/3 = 2/5
n x 8/3 = 2/5
n = (2/5) / (8/3)
n = (2/5) x (3/8)
n = (2 x 3) / (5 x 8)
n = 6 / 40
n = 3/20

Therefore 2/5 is 3/20 of 2 2/3
