Wear it a couple times around the house on a day when you know you're not leaving, then hang it in the back of the closet 'til she forgets about...had to do it a couple times...

As a mother, I think you should tell her the truth. She would rather know now, so that it can be returned, rather than waste her money. She would probably enjoy it if you asked her to go shopping with you to replace it with something that you will enjoy wearing. You could suggest that the two of you spend the entire day shopping and doing lunch, etc. My daughters and I have had many good laughs while trying on ridiculous looking clothing. That has always been a fun way for us to spend time together. It will, also, help her to learn about the types of clothing that you like, so in the future, she can buy you gifts of clothing that you will enjoy. Shopping is a great way for mothers and daughters to bond, you just have to make the time to do it.

Only wear it when u go out on a special night with ur parents and there r no friends. If not possible, wear a cute jacket over it, and say u got the chills. Or maybe put a lot of makeup so the attention is diverted from the outfit to ur face...Or "accidentally" stain it the minute u leave out the door for a party. U say ur gonna get a quick change. -lol

sometimes i see things that i think are the ugliest out fits...then i seesomeone wearing the same thing....and it looks so good on them....sometimes what you see as ugly...others see as sweet. try it on ....wear it out....just tell mom....i think i am going into a new phase....of clothes....i'm not sure you should buy me anything else until i know what it will be...then say something like ....maybe something funky...dance around alittle, strike a pose...it would be nice doing it while wearing the outfit. because if you say it while not wearing it...maybe she will take it the wrong way. make some fun of the uncomfortable tension in the room....

Just say mom I love you very much and appreciate your gesture but we seem to have different taste in clothing..oh and mom...you don't want me to wear this ...if i do i will never become the president, I will only be the poster child for Dorks anonymous.
Just be honest, gentle, and make her laugh. I have a perfect relationship with my daughter. We always tell each other the truth. This is how we have become close and have learned to really know and respect each other as individuals.

If it possible to return it, I would kindly ask if she would mind doing so. Make sure she knows you appreciate the thought and maybe give a suggestion for the future ( i.e.I really only wear pants, Mom, but thanks. I do love that color.)

If it's from a thrift store or yard sale, then I would do as the others suggested and use it a couple of times, then donate it to charity or simply forget it in your closet.

You must be a very nice girl. My daughters would not hesitate to complain, and comment on my un-coolness.

Try acessorizing outfit and breaking it into peices. Is there any part of it you like? If so, mix it with something else. If it really is not going to work, tell her there is this outfit you have been wanting for a long time & would she mind it you returned the outfit she bought as you think it is a little too tight? doesn't fall properly? fits funny?

Where it once, some place safe like a family gathering or around the house where no one will see you, so she can see you in it, and then put it all the way at the back of your closet and never let it see the light of day again.

I've have to do it before. Just remember, it's the thought that counts.

You have to tell her the truth. Even if you wore the out fit, your mom would tell by your actions if you like it.Have a descution, and tell her that you apprieciate what she does and buys, but when she goes shopping for you again, bring yourself along. Pretty soon she will know your taste in style. Good Luck.

If there's anyway possible tell her its not really your style, or that it is uncomfortable. If not wear it around the house all the time because you "love it so much" [accidental spilling of mustard would be GREAT here] and then don't wear it out. Put in back of close, top of closet, and hope like anything she forgets. Good luck!
