If he gets a corporate job, he will most likely be wearing a long-sleeved shirt and tie. No one will see it!!

Hey there, I have three tattoos, and I have had a stream of very good jobs, first working with autistic children as a TA, and then working as a fulltime nanny with a respectable family.
As long as your sons attitude is positive, and he shows he has determination for his intended career, I am sure that he will find the world has many opportunities that will not be limited by the choice of his body art.
It is easy to let stereotypes get in the way of seeing someone, and I hope that his father realizes that a tattoo does not make a person any diffferent than they were prior to getting it.
Good luck, and remember, if all else fails, a long sleeved shirt always does the trick ^_~

Depends on where the tatto is located- and how easily coverable it can be. And, does the kiddo want a corporate job?

I figure a 1/2 sleeve can still be covered up by your standard long sleeved business shirt if full on corporate is what you're gunning for.

I don't have a tatt- but my supervisor does. Actually she has 3- one is visible (it's on top of her right foot). I don't sense anyone taking her more/less seriously because of her tattoos...

Yes- some employers may frown on the tattoo-- if its visible and if it's accompanied with stereotypical "i'm-badass-rebel-wannabe" attitude.

If he has marketable job skills, can impress his boss(es), can get his job done- in then end its up to him how far he'll go in whatever career path he chooses to follow.

he can cover that with a long sleeve shirt.
I met this guy that works at the news station he is the weather man. I did not know it was him because everyday when I see him on the news he has on a suite an tie.
This day he had on a biker vest and a shirt with the sleeves cut off and he tattoos up and down his arms.
I was like DANG DUDE WHO KNEW!

Just make sure he only gets them where he can cover them.
Not on the fore arm, neck, and hands.

Your son will be alright.
I know your a mom and I should not say this but.....
All the kids today have them so by the time your son get to that stage in his life the guy that's sitting in the office next to him will have just as many tattoos as hes does.

It depends where the tattoo is. I have four tattoo's and have a managment level job but my tatt's are all in places that I can hide them if the need be. Many companies make their employee's cover any visible tattoos for professionalism reasons. If the sleeve is the upper half of his arm than he should be fine because what kind of coporate job has their employee's running around shirtless?

Decent tattoo artists make over $100,000 a year.

That said, it depends on the industry. In this day and age of blue-jeans millionaires people care a lot less about things like that in the job market over here in Seattle. Tour the Microsoft campus sometime, most of those folks are making 6 digits and half of them look like young Jerry Garcias. If he's good, he's got a job.

In the words of Vic Black: Just don't get 'em where the judge can see 'em.

I completely disagree. Im a nurse, have 3 tats. None are in areas that are exposed however. I have one on my bicep that if my sleeve pushes up it shows. Usually my patients think its interesting and its a good diversion for converstation. But thats just me. I think if your planning to get a corporate job, if its on the lower arm, neck, ear something like that, thats probley not going to help your resume. But it doesnt really matter what you think now because its there for life! Im sure at some point in his life he is going to wonder why he did that and regret it. Its really his problem now, not yours. Hes an adult.

My brother is covered with tats, literally, and he makes $150 an hour. Yeah you can get a good job with tattoos. That doesn't mean they are a good idea. Actually they're kinda lame. Every jackass and their grandma has them. Be original. But it's too late for your kid. Anyway, he'll be fine.
