I thought there were 5 main branches of biology:

1. ZOOLOGY: the study of animals
2. BOTANY: the study of plants
3. MICROBIOLOGY: the study of viruses, monerans, and protists
4. BIOCHEMISTRY: the study of the chemical nature of life
5. ECOLOGY: the study of the interaction among organisms in ecosystems

Hope this helps!

Zoology is the biological discipline which involves the study of animals. The word zoology comes from Greek Ζωο, zoon ("animal"), and λογος, -logy ("study").
