We are talking cricket, here, people. Not football.

The 1999 World Cup was won by Australia, so you'd think an Aussie should be nominated. But why do you want the "2nd best" player? Who is first, in your opinion?
Rahul Dravid scored the most runs (461), was equal with Saeed Anwar for most centuries (2), but Lance Klusener had the highest batting average (281 runs @ 140.5). Tom Moody had the highest strike rate of batsmen scoring over 100 runs in total (117 runs @ 130).
Courtney Walsh had the best bowling average (11 wickets at 9.81) but both Geoff Allott and Shane Warne took 20 wickets, the highest total.
So who do I pick?
The official "Man of the Tournament" was Lance Klusener, so if you go along with that, the 2nd best player has to be Shane Warne, only because Australia won the Cup.

it was "wasim akram" from pakistan OR "steve waugh" from australia, because they were the best with best bowling and batting averages, the both were the captains of the final playing nations, they performed awesome to drive their countries to the final.
