This question has been asked here before. I know for a fact someone who is on meds for depression, they purchases one. Just cause your depressed shouldn't mean that you can buy a firearm, its the crazy ones that are truly nutty that you don't want buying firearms.

BTW~ Depression meds are not going to show up when they run your background

I can find nothing banning a person who is depressed from purchasing a firearm.
I know that a person who has been adjudicated mentally ill cannot. (A court said your crazy)
Personally I don't have a problem with it unless you are seriously depressed. I have very mild depression but find shooting sports to be a great therapy. When I'm concentrating on safety and sight picture and everything else that goes with it... I completely forget about any problems I've been having.
It's basically the same thing as meditation only louder.

I'm not sure, but I wouldn't want to be around a depressed person with a gun even if they see a psychiatrist. Just because you see a psychiatrist, doesn't mean you're not depressed.

Yes he can.
As long as he does not have any criminal charges that prohibit him.
However, if he ever talks about suicide in any way you can contact the local police and they will help you deal with it the best they can.
If you think he is going to do harm to himself you need to contact a local mental health advisor and explain the situation.
