Same thing happened to me. If you see the screen in the beginning and then it turns off, it's because you changed the settings. The only thing I could do was reboot the hard drive with a fresh copy of XP and adjust the settings differently.

Could be any number of things. Your monitor could be defective. Your video card (or motherboard, if integrated) could be defective. Your cable may be loose, or not plugged in (either power or video). First thing to do is double-check all of your cables & make sure they are fitted tightly into the correct positions. If possible, try the PC with another monitor & see if that monitor displays video. If not, you know it's a PC problem. If it does, then you know it's a monitor problem. If it's not possible for you to try this type of troubleshooting, consider taking it to a repair location. If you have a Best Buy near you, they have Geek Squad in every store that can take a quick look at it for you for no charge.

connect an external monitor to it. If you get display on it, then your laptops' high voltage generator is gone. I fstill there is no display on external monitor but your laptop is kicking around and LEDs for HDD and etc are blinking, then your display driver or s/w insatllation has problem. Try to re-unsatll your s/w.
If you used a Chinese copy version of XP, then you got some serious virus in there. FOrmat you whole HDD and start fresh with authorized s/w.

u try to plug in wires properly , they may have loosened .
The following causes:
(1)memory problem for which u should reinstall memory after rebooting the computer and make sure that all the memory modules r installed in corect sockets .
(2)computer virus: run anti virus
(3)no power to monitor :check the power connectors to monitor and to system , make sure monitor is connected to diplay card
i hope this bit helps , all the best!!! ALL THE BEST. look the best bit , reboot ur computer in safe mode and system restore . that works!!!
