Go for it. The age of the supermodel is dying out, and the cookie cutter images of the same old boring faces is as well. Who knows, you could be the next Kate Moss. Develop a signature style that is unique to you that makes you stand out. Best wishes to you.

I've been modeling since I was 13, so between 12-15 is a good time to start. Usually you have to be atleast 5'9" to do runway, and have perfect, or nearly perfect measurements (if you're serious about it). That means around 34/24/34 (bust, hips, waist), or 32/22/32, etc. It doesn't just take being pretty or people telling you that you should be a model, believe me, I know. You have to have that "look" that an agent or booker is looking for. You also have to be ready to commit to a career in which you spend lots of money with sometimes minimal results, and you may have to relocate to a larger city in order to get well paying jobs, such as LA or NY, or atleast be willing to pay sometimes up to thousands of dollars to travel long distances. I hope your parents are willing to do this for you, like mine are. There are many other kinds of modeling rather than just runway and high fashion, commercial print is good to get into if you are just starting out, as you are only 5'6 1/2", I'd say commercial would be good for you at this point. It would introduce you to the modeling experience, and perhaps if you grow another 3 or 4 inches and your measurement are good, by the time you grow into those coveted stats, you would have also grown into the modeling experience and would make a good fashion model. Try finding a good agency and see where it goes, or e-mail me (through my Ask info page and I'll give you my e-mail then) if you'd like to talk about it more, maybe I can help you out.

You're a good height and weight for modelling already. You'd need to be at least 5'8" for runway but as far as weight goes it is more important to be a certain clothing size (a solid 5/6) than a particular weight - if you are serious about modelling, you might want to consider starting with print and putting a couple of years into it, then go for runway if you have the height by then. Watch out for "agents" running schools that teach modelling and charging through the nose for a portfolio, and remember that there is more to it than your size and looks - a postive attitude, healthy diet choices and the support of family go a long way too.

You are pretty slender, but 5'6" is not all that tall. I tried when I was a bit older than you (16), but at 5'9", I was told I wasn't tall enough. Perhaps they have changed in 20 years, rather than asking us, you should contact a modeling agency. Most of them have web sites, and will have a page stating their criteria. Get some head shots done, and start pounding the pavement. Even if you aren't supermodel material (and you might be), there are plenty of specialty models. Did you know the average height for petite models is about 5'5"?

to do runway you need to be 5'9" or taller (the taller the better) and you need to be a small size 6 (like a 35 inch waist or smaller) I started when I was 11 and I was 5'9.5" with a 36 inch waist. I was signed and then pushed to drop to 35 inches. Remember the clothes are made to fit a "model" not to fit you, if you don't fit you don't work!

My daughters both were teen models, they were 5'1 and 5'2, they modeled for Ford and were 14 and 16 at the time. I dont think there is a height requrement, just the way you carry yourself, and if you photograph well in various clothes.

You really want to be a advertisers doll and have your credibility based on physical endowment? I understand the attraction, and though i personally would not be interested in that line of work, there is nothing wrong with it per se.
Just remember not to focus on the physical as a mark of worth, worth should come from personal achievement and growth.

F--k i'm a kill joy... go for it....

To be honest, the modeling business is an uncertain one. Based on the manner that you presented your question, you seem to be pretty intelligent for your age. In my opinion, I think you should put that off until later years and worry about continuing to further strengthen your intelligence. Good luck.

At least 5'9", and super skinny. Your age wouldn't change the height an weight standard, but your age is just right for you to start modeling.
