sounds like your secondary muscles of inspiration are shortened or contractured. Do you smoke or are you susceptible to bronchitis? If so, then this could be the cause. I would also go to a Massage Therapist and get some of the hypertonicity worked on and have them give you some good home care in the form of remex and hydrotherapy. When you breath, try not to breath apically, but bring the air in through your nose and when it goes into your lungs, concentrate on bringing the air as far down as your tummy (pretend that your tummy is like a big balloon, and fill it up) Then continue to inhale so the upper portions of your lungs fill. When you exhale, do so through your mouth, slowly. Make an effort to breath this way, an the tightness in you chest should decrease a bit. Get your Pec major and Pec minor stretched out and hold your shoulders back. Don't slouch.
Guaranteed, if you do this, you will feel like a new person.

Sounds like it could be as simple as a pinched nerve, I've had that happen and it usually went away after a day or so. If you've had the pain for a long time you might want to ask a doc about it. Love the name by the way, lol.....

You could have a pulled muscle or tendon.
If you've torn something you will get this really sick feeling pain.
I've done it before and the only way I could tell my Dr. was the pain felt "bitter" weird I know.

Go to the doctor now! Don't waste a single second. I have had a heart attack (at age 36) and a few weeks ago a stent put in each of my legs at age 47. Please go ok?
