The best steak and the best value steak is at Taylors in Koreatown. Its an old school place where you walk in and it feels like you stepped in with Frank Sinatra and the rest of the rat pack. Have a dry martini and a steak and enjoy your evening. And the best part is its reasonably priced.

Looking at the other answers, I have to say I love the Smoke House but for steak? It's good but, there's better.
1. Mortons, yes it's expensive. They have their own meat locker on site in the basement where they dry age the prime only beef. La Cienega Blvd. Restaurant Row at Burton Drive.
2. Lawry's for prime rib... oh yes. Perfection. Also on La Cienega Blvd south of Mortons.
3. The Pacific Dining Car just west of Downtown.
4. The Athanaeum Club in Pasadena.

Hands down, the best steak is served at Arnie Morton's on La Cienega. A few blocks south of the BeverlyCenter. It's at the north end of retaurant row.
Everything is ala carte, so it can be very expensive. Lots of side dishes. The best sauteed onions and mushrooms I have ever had.
I have eaten steaks at Ruth's Chris and all the others listed here. They don't compare in taste and quality with Morton's!
Bst of luck,
Jeffrey

There's a Ruths Chris in the Valley - Woodland Hills Promenade. But I'm not that crazy about it, and it's very expensive. I was disappointed that most of the responses here have been for chains----If you're going for a chain, for cryin' out loud, just go to Outback---and they're a far better value.

Aww, come on.... get out of the Valley and LIVE! Head to Beverly Hills to try Ruth's Chris, it's successful for a reason.
