Liberals don't respect the law of unintended consequences. they are slow to see a dicator coming. They adore creating classes of citizenship. They flunk.

Conservatives, now, are a party that insists on using government to achieve RELIGIOUS goals. They are the religious party. They flunk.

So I'm a hard-currency, limited-government federalist and anti-utopian. When Barry Goldwater and Ronald Reagan were alive, this was called "conservatism." In the 19th century, it was called "liberalism" and some people still call it "classical liberalism." Nowadays, some are calling it being a "militant moderate." At the root, it is "Lockean empiricism."

I am American - The Conservatives stamp their feet, and hold their breath until they turn blue if anyone disagrees with their politics. Unfortunately, Conservatives do not have all the answers, even if they truly believe they do.

Liberals are agreeing to sacrifice morals, dignity, and truth with the hopes of encapsulating every group, personage, and culture. The old saying, "You can't please all the people all the time" rings true in their camp.

Most of the American public are in the middle of all that. We do want the people of our nation who are sick and elderly to be cared for.

Even the conservatives want to have us forget that Jesus said, "What you do for the least of these, you do for Me." However, Conservatives seem to think that however much money you can accumulate for the politicians is far better than making sure The People have what they need to survive. Jesus said, "Feed my sheep, clothe my lambs . . ." and "what we have left from our bounty, divide it and give it to the poor." The Conservative politicians tend to lean on the abortion issues and gay marriage issues because those issues can pay them, as individual politicians, more money in the long run.

Liberals - Well, the left is being found to be closer to the mark since George W took office. Everything that Al Gore in 2000 (they year our public vote didn't mean anything) and John Kerry in 2004 talked about in the debates about what George Bush would do to this country is now coming true. George Bush bankrupted every company he ever touched, so we handed him our checkbook and said, "Here, see what you can do to this!" Well, we're all experiencing just what he did.

When Bush took office, we had a surplus in the treasury and the budget was balanced. Say what you want about Clinton's morals, but he was an excellent president FOR THE PEOPLE, BY THE PEOPLE AND OF THE PEOPLE. The American public, as you can see a glimpse of by these boards, are all morally corrupt---why so judgmental about another man who is guilty of being unfaithful? It seems popular on these message boards.

Liberal or Conservative? I believe it's time for a third party. I do not agree with the liberal "across the board orgy" type of politics, and I certainly do not agree with the Facist conservative politics. I will be looking at other candidates.

BUT WE SHOULD ALL VOTE. Even though in 2000 the Electoral College told us our popular vote meant nothing.......our vote means everything.

Conservative.

Like a few others have said, very few people are 100% republican or democrat. Many find themselves crossing party lines on some issues. That's the beauty of a democratic and free society. Not everyone agrees.

But I find myself voting more conservatively, and here's why... I look over on the other side at the Democratic party and I see the Nancy Pelosi's, the HIllary Clinton's, and the Joseph Lieberman's. I see confusion and lack of identity. The Nancy's will always take the side that's opposite the Republican point of view. The Hillary's and John Kerry's will flip flop around depending on the current polls and how their opponents stand on a certain issue. The Lieberman's are worried about positioning themselves away from far-left extremists, but find themselves agreeing with more Republicans than they should be to win campaigns. Most of all, I see most Democrats "rooting" for us to fail in Iraq. Rooting for their own country to fail to promote a political point. That's just downright wrong.

On the other hand, you have the Republican party. You have the Ronald Reagans who lead by heart. You have the Newt Gingrich's who lead with integrity. What you have here is a sense of tradition and openness. I don't have to worry about confusing, conflicting points of view from all over the party. The party is far from perfect, but I get the sense that they try to uncover the facts that surround an accusation before jumping to conclusions.

Liberal.

Because conservatives have a very small circle in which to view the world.
So many people I know are conservatives, and I just do not get it for the life of me.

And liberals can have morals as well, for the record.

I have nothing AGAINST conservatives, I just don't agree with them.

Liberal.

Conservatives don't like social programs. However social programs are necessary. The ICC was necessary. Social Security and Medicare are necessary. Thing is when these old bills passed, conservatives fought against them.

I know I'm going to get a lot of flack for this I think Reagan was terrible. He's what pushed me liberal. Reaganomics didn't work then, and it sure doesn't work now. Star Wars, otherwise known as the Stategic Defense Initiative didn't work then, and it doesn't work now. I'm not to fond of the Iran-Contra affair either. His speeches gave me the impression that he was talking to the American people as if they were children. I didn't find them comforting, I found them demeaning. I will however give him his due in that he did help end the Cold War.

liberal because i believe that everyone one should help out others and believe that less taxes aren't always a good thing i mean think about it if there are less taxes then there will be less money to pay for stuff and when we're in the middle of a war we need all the money we can get not to say that the government should suck us dry but they need a way for paying for stuff and taxes is a good way to do it.

But anyway im not really sure if im a total liberal i just know im not a conservative thats for sure

Liberal of course! Just look at the definitions of the words:

Liberal: Free from bigotry, tolerant of ideas and opinions of others, broadminded, tends to give freely.

Being liberal doesnt mean that you agree with every point of view in your party but that you have enough respect for people to live their lives as they choose.

Conservative: restrained, tends to oppose change, cautious

Now, how the hell did we proud liberal allow the neo cons make being "liberal" a bad thing? Who in their right mind would want to be conservative....narrow-minded and and bigoted wrapping themselves in a cloak of religiousity that is nothing but a sham.

Independent Conservative, but by no means a Neocon. (More of a Paleocon in the tradition of Pat Buchanan.) I was definitely a liberal, socially speaking, in the '60s & 70's but always have been conservative with respect to drugs, crime, etc. Eventually life slapped me in the face and I woke up with respect to the other issues. Thank God!

Those are meaningless labels.

Most people I've talked with are neither liberal nor conservative on all issues. They have a wide range of views, that when taken on the whole, would make them moderates.

Including me.

Conservative because I have morals, believe in lower taxes and less government control and do not belive that liberalism has or ever will work.
