Is there a better web image editor than photoshop cs that alot of big businesses use?

Photoshop is the hands-down industry standard for photo manipulation.

There are other packages that they probably use as well, such as Adobe Illustrator. It approaches art (especially the kind Yahoo uses) from a different direction. It's not as good at manipulating photographs but its' awesome for creating logos and such.

I'd almost guarantee that they use Photoshop for at least some stuff. Paintshop Pro is a nice one as well and there's an open source one that's supposed to be good, but it's generally accepted that Photoshop is the best.

Photoshop is the premiere picture editing software. It is certain that yahoo uses it for their images. You will work in the graphics field without becoming a Photoshop expert.

Yup, Adobe PhotoShop and Adobe Illustrator are the main programs used to edit and create images by professionals.
