Not quite Berkeley, but nothing in the east bay, or greater San Francisco Bay Area for that matter, beats Oliveto.

I agree that Eccolo, on 4th Street, is very good. Bucci's is liked by many, it's in Emeryville. There's also Locanda Olmo and Trattoria La Siciliana, both on College a few doors down from each other. We call Locanda Olmo the "Big Night" restaurant because it seems like the line is always at the other restaurant for some reason.

I think the two on College are the most authentically Italian. For great info on local restaurants (and reviews), check out this link:
