Your period can't *never* be on time. Either it's totally erratic--24 days one cycle, then 35, then 32, then 40--and there *is* no "on time", or it's usually about the same--maybe 32 days--and sometimes it's late. So I'm not sure what you mean. You also don't have an "ovulation period"; you ovulate, and then you're done. It takes minutes, not days.

You ovulate about 2 weeks (usually 12-16 days) befote your *next* period. So if this cycle was destined to be 35 days long, you would probably ovulate between days 19 and 23. However, if you are irregular, this won't help much.

The best and most accurate way to know when you are ovulating is to chart signs of fertility. Please read _Taking Charge of Your Fertility_ by Toni Weschler for details on this. It is a lot more accurate than using any Web fertility calendar (which just uses the "average" as given above, so you can do that on your own), and it is even more accurate than ovulation predictor kits.

I also suggest the temperture method!..My periods were never regular and i tried for 7 years. Then i got a book on taking your temperture and checking your muscous,i know it sounds kinda weird, but if you really want a baby do this. Its simple you get a chart you will buy a basil body temperture thermomerter okay now on your chart it will have numbers or lines either or you can simple make your own like a graph.Best way is too take your temp daily ,reason being some women dont have to but these are the women with normal cycles. This method was mostly used for women who dont want to take the pill or use birth control methods to keep from getting pregnant this is the natural way.Well you do it every day ,try and do it early same time every day. Each day you mark on your graph your temp.So your temp will be around the same mostly each day. What you need to look for is your temp staying high higher than normal for like for 2 -3 days and then you see it drop quick well thats your body ovulating and you need to have sex then that day and the next. Also like i was saying when a women ovulates she will have like a more thicker mucous like drainage so you need every day except the week you on your period to check it and that means you have to use either your finger or your husbands ,beleieve me it isnt the most fun way to get prenant but it works. When the muscous is like thin ,dissapears when the air hits it your not ovulating if it stretches and i mean its like a runny part of a egg then have sex sex sex im serious. But you do want to have sex when your temp is the highest .It may take a month or so for you to get use to it or get some books like i did .And whats weird about it is 7 years i tried everything and nothing.I do the temp thing and in one month im pregnant! So goodluck and i hope i helped !

Charting is probably your best bet here, since your periods are irregular. There are two great ways of learning how to do that. One is to buy the book "Taking Charge of Your Fertility". The other is to use a well rounded software program with a great support forum for questions. I recommend ovusoft.com for that.

Ovulation tests really won't work alone for you...because you will end up going through so many tests.

Hope this helps!

starting from the first "full" bleed of your next period, you need have sex between 12 - 21 days after your first "full" bleed, for example, if you get your period on monday night, and the blood is not heavy, and is brownish,(the start of period) it is not a "full" bleed. Then if you wake up in the morning, and find that through the night you have a "full" bleed, then you will calculate your ovulation dates from tuesday. Due to your periods being irregular the best bet is to have sex everyday!!!
