I know that 6 months is the recomendation. I'm just curious when most people started their babies on it. I started my son at 5 months.

I think it depends on the child. The recommended time is 6mo, but some babies have big appetites way before that. I don't think it matters as long as they get all around good nutrition and don't start loosing or gaining too much weight.

My son has had cereal in his bottle since he was 2 weeks old due to reflux. He will be 4 months old on the 25th of June. He started cereal from a spoon about a week ago and loves it. I started him slow, just about a tablespoon. I gave him that with his afternoon lunch bottle. I will gradually bump up the spoonfuls as weeks go by. My doctor told me to wait, but I wanted to give it a try because he seemed hungry after a bottle. You have to go with your gut, your doctor doesn't live with you and they don't see your child everyday like you do. Start off slow with the cereal and don't be afraid to let the play with it.... It can get a bit messy! :)

Good Luck to you and your family! Have FUN

My first child (a girl) was around six months. I went by the book being my first child in all.
But my 2nd & 3rd (both Boys)about 4 months. Both seemed to need that little bit more, I'd pump and add a tiny bit of cereal to one bottle every night. (suggested by Mother-In-Law)
My 4th an another girl was different due to being a preemie, I started her a little earlier(around 8 weeks), suggestion from her home nurse. (I asked)

yes start now. with a weak mixture in the baby bottle. Than after a week (if the baby has no problems) you can start to feed the baby with a spoon. just incress the cereal gradualy and you are set for other baby foods.

I started putting rice cereal in my daughter bottles mixed with formula when she was 3 weeks old. And she was fine they kept her full longer she was eating 6 oz. bottles every 2 hours, it didn't hurt her at all and she never got over weigh nor is she now.
