He shouldn't even have won American Idol, let alone earned People's title! (I personally was rooting for Chris Daughtry!)
People Magazine's judgment seems to have been a bit impaired on this one...perhaps by "hottest" they meant "most talked about of the moment". Probably not...but I'll give them the benefit of the doubt.
Out of the 20-something answers here, I see maybe one that actually thinks he's hot. So I would venture to say that no, you're DEFINITELY not the only one upset.

People Magazine's Sexiest Man Alive or any other outrageous title they give a person has nothing to do with the actual attractiveness of the person.
It's a publicity ploy. The magazine is flooded by a performer's agent/management with clips and promotional gear about an actors upcoming projects. People picks a person who has a lot of buzz around them in order to further sales.
Look at their list: I bet every actor on that list has a film in the works and is about to be released OR an album about to drop.
Don't put a lot of stock in these types of list. It's just hype.
And concerning gray hair, I think men with gray hair are just as sexy as men without it. Taylor isn't your standard typical hunk, but I don't think he made the list for his looks. I think he's cute, but overall I think his personality makes him attractive.
Let's not be biased against older men. Would you say that an older actress, say Susan Surandon, is less attractive than a younger one? You'd be up in arms if someone made your exact comment but geared it towards a woman.

Yeah I couldn't believe that one! I think some people were smoking some crack or something. I mean look at the other guys on the list-Jake Gyllenhaal, Matthew McConaughey, Chris Evans, and that hottie Camilo Villegas (YUM). They are all better than Taylor!

you guys are all crazy! he's hot, his music (that he writes) is hot, when he plays the harmonica it's hot, even the gray hair is hot. by the way, I'm in my twenties so I'm not old - I just like real men - not skinny, sissy, untalented, snobby boys. what's with all the anger anyway? at least he's following his dream and not tearing down others.
