Yes - and that is not a silly question.
When you shave all of your dead skin cells come off as well - hense why we bother tanning in the first place.

No, but, sometimes it seems that way.
If you have a thick beard and don't shave on the weekends, then your tan gets deeper around your facial hair -- so when you cut it off on Monday morning, the part of the face that has been shielded from the sun by your hair looks paler.
This is very noticeable regarding haircuts and the pale skin on the forehead or back of the neck that hair shielded from the sun until it was cut.

You can lose a small amount of tan as the outer layers of skin wear away. Only a really serious scrape will cause serious removal of a tan, and generall you are more concerned about the bleeding than the loss of the tan.

when I sun bathed when I was younger, and I shaved my legs, yes my legs became a bit lighter. When your shave your taking a few skin cells, but I dont think your entirely loose the colour, and as skin sheds anyway tans fade because of that fact.

Is the hair on your legs so thick that it blocked the sunlight's rays? if that's the case, you have no longer any tan besides. If no longer, there could desire to be no subject in shaving and nevertheless preserving your tan.

In my experience, no, you don't lose your tan. However it is not good for the skin to nik it shaving. I would worry more of hemorrhage than losing a tan though :) (I am a bleeder)

tan is pigmentation in the skin, if you shave, you will not lose what is IN your skin unless you shave your skin off...
If the tan is fake, thats a different story
