Why does the sun give off light? Why does hot water burn? It is just the nature of love to hurt. There are many reasons for why love hurts, but its so diffrent for every person.
A scientific approach is that the feeling of love is created by and excess of serotonin and dopamine in your brain, which are two natrual chemicals that create happiness. When you either dont see the person, or see them in a diffrent way those two chemicals arent released like they used to and your body goes through a state of withdrawl.
Another scientific approach is that you just get used to the fact that when ever you see the person you love they treat you right so you feel happy. But when something goes wrong they dont treat you the same way, so its like nothing is the same anymore, and your body doesnt feel good about that.
But treating love as reactions in the brain just cant describe its effects or why it hurts us so much. An emotional standpoint is that you put everything you have into that person, all your trust, support, time, effort, just EVERYTHING. And one day, something happens to screw that all up. Either you just dont love them anymore or you they dont love you. It is then that you realize that after so long of spending time and energy on a relationship, it doesnt matter anymore. Its similar to if you were to try and create a work of art, so you paint every second you have time for two or more years on end, and then you sit and watch someone take a knife to it, wrip it into peices, but gas on it, burn it and then piss on the ashes. Something you were so proud of and you had hope in the final outcome has just gone to ruins, and nothing you can ever do will bring it back.
