yes it is very easy to get cocky, but the reality is, our ranking is pretty insignificant, we are rising through the ranks every time we play a game.
We thrashed Japan who are higher ranked than croatia, we have beaten brazil before, so its not unheard of for us to do it again. its not like they beat croatia nearly as badly as we beat japan.
even if we only beat croatia and not brazil, we will still be through to the second round. wich is amazing.
the fact that we have even made it this far is awesome, don't worry about it, whatever the result is, we are doing really well

Australia played against Japan quite poorly. I am an Australian, and of course I am really happy with the result. But we only kicked it into gear in the last 20 minutes. Actually, I felt the socceroos weren't really playing very well at all for 70 minutes.
Sure, Schwarzer was impeded, but he would have conceded that goal even if he wasn't impeded.
I think most of the socceroos were concious of the hard-line the refs will be taking with lunging takles, so they really didn't show their die-hard trait.
Australia will pick up red cards against Brazil, so, I don't think we can win. I think though, we have a chance against Croatia and feel that Japan was the weakest team in this group. So... Australia is back to the start again.

I believe the Aussie's are capable of taking a point off Brazil. They (Brazil) don't usually hit their stride until the 2nd round. They didn't look good against Croatia and were fortunate to pick up the win.
I don't think the Socceroo's can beat Brazil (in a round robin match), but are fully capable of earning a draw. Croatia are not a good side and are vulnerable and quite beatable.
I have Australia going through to the next round in my World Cup pool, so...
Brazil 2
Australia 2
Croatia 0
Australia 1
Best wishes to the Socceroo's!!!

I'm with you, very optimistic... but we gotta be realistic here.
Our team doesn't have the class of Brazil, and if Brazil play well, we will lose.
I think Guus will be thinking ahead to the Croatia game as it is the key game for Australia. Win that and the Brazil result wont matter as much.
It'll be interesting to see the result from the Japan-Croatia game, because Japan wont go down without a fight either.
We (Aussies) have overachieved already, so if we go out in the first round we have still done better than expected in that one game, so either way I'll be proud of the lads.

The aussies have the best squad in a while. If Kewell and Viduka perform the Aussies can easily defeat croatia and have a good shot at Brazil after Brazil's dissappointing performance against Croatia.

Unfortunately, I am not as optimistic as you are. Based on how they played against Japan, I see the following results with the other two teams.
Brazil-2 , Australia-0
Croatia-1, Australia-0
This does not mean that Australia is a bad team but that it is facing far superior teams than Japan; however, I do see very good possibilities for Australia to play in the next round. Good Luck!!!

Australia will either tie or beat Brazil and if they're very lucky, they'll beat Croatia (a team I thought played better than Brazil in their match). Australia will win the group (and no, I'm NOT an Aussie, I'm a German fan)

Seriously, why do you all think Aussie will win Brazil or Croatia. They will lose to both teams and go home. Brazil was still not playing with all their strength and Aussie got the lucky goals. Hell no, Aussie will notpass the group.

Brazil looked human in their opener. However, I am under the impression that they were playing a level two verse one. Also, if Brazil dumps Ronaldo Aussies will actually have to play against a full set of players.
