Ohio State vs. Michigan
You can't even compare it to any other rivalry.
It decides who wins the Big Ten almost every year because both teams are so consistantly good. Both teams hate each others guts. The rivalry has been a pretty even one as well.

One of the greatest rivalries of all time has to be Nebraska and Oklahoma. These two teams have played eachother for the better part of a century, and have dominated the Big 12 and before that the Big 8 since their inceptions.
Another storied rivalry that I am a little biased on is the Colorado State University Rams and the University of Wyoming Cowboys (I am a Cowboy). Our schools play every year, and have done so for nearly 100 years. This game has come to be called "the Border War" and although we do not have a well known trophy, we do play for the Bronze Boot, a boot that was worn by a CSU graduate that served in Vietnam. We have played for this trophy since the early seventies, and it has come to be the source of bragging rights for either school. We may not be as big name as the other schools mentioned here, but this has to be mentioned as one of the best rivalries in college football.

The best college football rivalry is definitely Auburn - Alabama. These 2 teams hate each other with a passion. Either team could go 10-0 in the season, but if either of them lose to one or the other, that team looks at the season as a failure. Not only that, but the losing coach is under heavy criticism for losing that one game! Family members that have different opinions on who is better, disown each other for an entire week, just for this one game! My family does it to me all the time. You can't like both teams because they're in Alabama, you have to chose one! It's hard to describe to you, but if you were to come down here for that week, then you'd definitely understand why. Fights break out everywhere because of disagreement. I've been to Ohio and that rivalry has nothing on this one! Not to mention that the game is perhaps the greatest game I see all year. All the players on both teams put their heart into this game more than any other game I see all year. This IS the best college football rivalry. Period.
Don't buy into the Army - Navy game, dude! That game sucks because they both suck every year. The game isn't good either because one of the teams usually sucks ten times worse going into it. The game is never close, one team always ends up beating the hell out of the other! That and no one watches it anymore!

Wow there's so many good ones.. obviously Ohio State-Michigan is the first one that comes to mind.. but then you have to name the likes of..
Oklahoma - Texas
USC - UCLA
Florida St. - Miami
Army - Navy
Auburn - Alabama
Notre Dame - Michigan
Those would be my top ones. Even though Army and Navy rarely field good football teams at the same time, it's still a great rivalry if for nothing else.. the tradition of the game. Oklahoma and Texas is always a good rivalry, even though OU was manhandling Texas for awhile but that looks to be changing a bit.
USC and UCLA is one of the more underrated rivalries IMO, because they are in Los Angeles.. but that got a bit more attention with the recent SC dynasty that took place.
And who could forget all those FSU-Miami games with the shanked FG's (mainly by the Noles)..
Great question man!

no doubt...ohio state vs michigan. the rivalry is one of the oldest in the ncaa. almost all the time, the winner of the game decides who will win the Big Ten. also, one of the teams could have a bad season but if they beat the other, then they can claim to have a great season. two years ago, ohio state went 7-4 and michigan went 9-2. ohio state played AT michigan that year and beat them 37-21. it wasnt even a close game. ohio state killed michigan despite having a miserable season and michigan having a great season.

Rivalries are so sectional that you would end up with a lot of regionally biased answers. I my personal opinion, here are the best rivalries in sections
Northeast- Harvard/Yale
Southeast- Alabama/Auburn
Northwest- Stanford/Cal
Southwest- Texas/Oklahoma

I'm a Penn State fan but....
Ohio State vs Michigan is clearly the best rivalry.
You can't count PSU vs Notre Dame ...they haven't played in
over a decade.

Since i live in Iowa, but I am a Minnesota Gophers fan, I think the rivalry between them is good. I don't know if its the best rivalry, but it is fun to watch them two play. In football, they even play for a pig! (Floyd of Rosedale)

Starting again next year . . . PSU - Notre Dame. I know there are some other great ones, but this was always a marque match-up of two teams going after national titles. Also, these are two teams with some of the largest fan bases in NCAA football.
