My native american name is hummingbird and I've always considered getting a tatoo of a hummingbird, but now it no longer seems cool. Should I still get one?

If you have doubts, I would consider not getting it. If you still wanna get it in 6 months or something, then get it and f*** what anyone else thinks.

passe is passe... people who question whether a tattoo is cool or should not get them. its a commitment, not a fad. If you get one, make sure it has meaning and will still be meaningful to you when you are old. sounds like the hummingbird is a good choice for you, but make sure you get a good artist with good ideas/skills. try designing it yourself to bring something of yourself to it. don't do it though until you find a design that feels right.

You should never get a tattoo if you don't feel strongly about it. Don't get it because it's "cool." I have 2 tattoos and I love them both. I've had them for about 5 years now. I just made sure to get them in places that I could hide if I wanted to.

They can't ever be passe because they are on you for good. Certain types of tattoos are passe, but you didn't name one of them! =0) Get the hummingbird--esp. if it has meaning for you. If it's done right, you'll always love it!

How does one express individuality by following the hottest trend?
Never could figure that one out.
You however seem to have a legitimate reason for this form of self expression, it seems to be internal for you, not to fit in or be trendy. If you want it get it. You will likely need to adjust the colors as you age.

I guess it depends on what you want. I never considered tattoos cool. It be like branding yourself and advertising, hey look at me I'm an idiot. I thought they went out in the 40's after WWII. Like hair styles they go in and out.

As long as your tattoo has special meaning to you it will always be cool. But don't get one if you are worried about what others may think. It will be on you forever, get it only for yourself.

Anyone who got a tattoo to be cool, shouldn't have gotten one in the first place.
If you want to get one because you want one, go for it.
If you want to get one to be cool. I suggest not

The moment you do something in imitation of someone else, it is already passe.

Tatoos shouldn't be about OTHER people, they should reflect what YOU like.
