I just went thru this, I have a 7mth old and when i was 6mths preggo, I was diagonised wit Gestational Diabetes. The thing is, if its just gestational it will more than likely go away after u have the baby. Mine did!!! What they will do is monitor u very closely. I ended up having it really bad so they started me on the insulin shots, if urs gets bad they may try the pill but like in my case they went straight 2 the shot. They will give a gluclose test monitor so that u can test ur blood sugars and bring them 2 ur doc. appts. They will prolly put u on a diet, that may help it and may even make it go away. U'll prolly have to go 2 the doc a lot more. I was going 2 times a week every week.. but that's jus so they can monitor u and the baby.. Usually the 1st doc appt will be an AFI/NST and the 2nd u'll actually see the doc. That's the way they did mine. Usually wit diabetes once u get at least 36wks they will induce labor becuz when u have gestational diabetes it usually causes 4 a big baby and u won't be able to deliver it naturally. They induced my labor at 36wks but on top of the diabetes, I have pre-eclampsia. When I finally gave birth he was actually 6lbs 14oz, so u can imagine how big he would've been if i would've went full term, so that's why they induce. But they will induce u 2...After u have the baby they will also test the baby for diabetes to make sure it doesn't have it, becuz wit the blood glucose it could spill into the baby's blood, but they will test the baby as soon as u have it and then they will continue 2 test u 2 to make sure it has went away. that's basically the whole gist of gestational diabetes. Good luck wit er'thing and i'm sure u'll have a healthy baby!!!

Well since your doctor did find a large amt. of glucose (sugar) and you are preg. yes you could have Gestational Diabeties.. But that can also depend what type of test he ran an A1C is a test done through the blood to see how your sugars have been over the past 3 months.. according to the numbers he received, and the fact that you have to go for a 3 hour glucose monitoring test, there is a possibility you may be diabetic during the time of your pregnacy... This happen to me... If your test comes back positive you will be given a diet that you will have to follow... and the more walking that you do the better off you will be... also it is not unusual for a woman to be diabetic while preg.
The only problem with Gestational Diabeties...that causes doctors concern... is usually there is a problem with the baby gaining too much weight which can cause problems during child birth.... I was fine with my first child... but my second i was diabetic. Sometimes along with the diet and as much excercise as you can maintain, (walking is great )... your body still may show excess sugar which can cause you to be put on a low dose of insulin.. and thats ok... do not worry.... unless you have a family member who is totally Diabetic.. the chances of you keeping the diabeties is very rare, and if you do happen to have a member who is... then there is a chance that your pregnacy just brought out the fact that you are alone a Diabetic..
Rest assured... if you have a good doctor... OBGYN he will recommend that you see a Endocronologist.. which specializes in Diabeties. This doctor will then recommend like i said before a certain amt. of calorie intake a day... and keep a close eye on you during your preg. and do a follow up afterwards to make sure you are not diabetic alone.
Diabeties runs high in my family... and i have been diabetic for 3yrs now... but i wasn't diagnosed untill my son was 11.. I lost weight while i was preg.. all baby... I bought a food scale and measured everything i ate... i walked..alot.. kept a close eye on my sugar daily.. with a monitor.. and took my insulin as told to do.. Other than i had a habit of giving birth to low weight kids.. my daughter weighed 3lbs 12 oz... and my son weighed 4lbs 8oz.. and they are 5yrs apart... both are very healthy children.
Like i said this is normal for alot of women.. so just do as the doctors request, and things should go ok... GOOD LUCK

I had gestational diabetes. It means that you need to watch your intake of sugar in all forms, including carbohydrates. I had to use a glucometer 3 times a day to check my glucose. It helped me regulate my diet. Diabetic women can have larger than normal babies. The condition can also make it hard on your vital organs if left uncontrolled, especially during pregnancy. Don't worry yet. Sometimes the blood sugar fluctuates because you ate something sweet. The 3 hour test isn't too bad. You fast, then have blood drawn at intervals and you have to drink an orange soda type substance that is loaded with sugar. Your doctor will let you know what (if anything) you need to do further. Some women's bodies just have a harder time producing enough insulin for both you AND baby. That is all. You can control it with diet or sometimes insulin is needed. As long as you follow the Dr's advice everything should be fine.

During pregnancy, your hormones make it tougher for your body to use insulin, so your pancreas needs to produce more of it. For most moms-to be, this isn't a problem: As your need for insulin increases, your pancreas dutifully secretes more of it. But when a woman's pancreas can't keep up with the insulin demand and her blood glucose levels get too high, the result is gestational diabetes. Most women with gestational diabetes don't remain diabetic once the baby is born. Once you've had it, though, you're at higher risk for getting it again during a future pregnancy and for becoming diabetic later in life. For most women with gestational diabetes, the main worry is that too much glucose will end up in the baby's blood. When that happens, your baby's pancreas needs to produce more insulin to process the extra glucose. All this excess blood sugar and insulin can cause your baby to make more fat and put on extra weight, particularly in the upper body.

Blood sugar during pregnancy is called as gestational diabetics - as this occurs mostly during pregnancy and goes off after it. I delivered two children and for both of them I had gestational diabetes, though for my son, i got it quite late and was not even aware that I had it. The blood sugar goes high when our pancrease is not able to secrete enough insulin to break down the sugar surplus thay occurs especially when we are preganant and as the baby advances in size. Proper diet care, do not eat sweets, sugar content food, chocolates, fizzy drinks, etc... and cut down on carbohydrates as well. Eat a lot of high protein and fibre rich foods, fruits (banana, an apple a day, plum, pomergrenate) - avoid eating mangoes and other too sweet fruits, drink loads of water and drink milk (two glasses per day). In the event that the sugar is not controlled with diet control, the n the doctors would go for insulin injection - doses of insulin to take care of the needs of the body. My blood sugar returned to normal as soon after delivery and even whilst after 4 months, I went for a check up, everything was normal and had no problems. The doctors say that a mother suffering from gestiational diabetes is either due to age or due to a prehistory of another family member like mother or anyone being diabetic. There is nothing to be worried, just take care of your diet and perhaps move around a lil bit so that you also burn a bit of your sugar content, but all in all nothing to be worried about on taking care. To end, my baby was normal having no problems of sugar or anything and I had a normal delivery.

You may have gestational diabetes. It is different than regular diabetes and will probably go away after you give birth. It can harm the baby - I think they get a lot (and unnaturally) bigger/fat.

If you have it your doctor will put you on a special diet and everything should be okay.

Put the words "gestational diabetes" in a Yahoo! search and you will come up with some good information.

Depends on your #'s. My one hour came back 145 which should be below 140. They want me to do a three hour too but my morning sickness is still too bad. I am asking them to treat me as though I have gestational diabetes because my previous three children were 9 - 10 pounds. So, I am on board with a nutritionists and controlling my carb intake therefore helping me to stay healthy for the baby. I was really scared at first too. But you'll prob pass your three hour and be just fine. Your baby is fine for now, if you are diagnosed with gestational diabetes it will probably just take some dietary changes to ensure that you and the baby stay healthy. Good luck and congrats on the bambino. Feel free to contact me thru yahoo if you need to talk.

I'm a 45 year old woman and was recently diagnosed as being a borderline diabetic. My doctor prescribed some medication, but before filling it I decided to do some research on the internet which led me to the methods. After reading this ebook and applying the methods, my scepticism turned to 100% belief. I noticed that my energy levels increased significantly and I felt more rested in the morning, my symptoms started going away.

I am very happy to tell you that I have been feeling better than I have felt in years and my doctor informed me that he will be taking me off my prescriptions if I keep this up.

I recommend you use the Type 2 Diabetes Destroyer to naturally reverse your diabetes.
